Police Arrest Teens For Harassing Birds

Posted: Updated:

Around 6:30 p.m. Friday evening, Minot Police and Animal Control responded to Oak Park for a report of a group of teenagers chasing and harassing the geese and gosling.

The teenagers were reportedly hitting the birds with sticks and pinning them to the ground. After they noticed Animal Control, the group attempted to leave in their vehicles. But, an officer in the area stopped two vehicles and the teens were detained during the investigation.

All of the juveniles involved were taken to the Minot Police Department where they received citations and court summons for violating City Ordinance 7-11, killing and molesting birds. They were also issued warnings for no trespassing for all parks in Minot for one year.

They were released to their parents.
