Hoeven Proposes Improving VA Healthcare

Posted: Updated:

One of North Dakota's U.S. Senators is proposing a slight change to recent legislation aimed at improving health care access for veterans.

Senators John McCain and Bernie Sanders are working on combining two proposals that would make it easier for vets to get cared for in their own communities, even if they're not VA facilities.

Now, Senator John Hoeven, who co-wrote the bill with McCain, is working to make sure veterans have alternatives if initial care options fall through.

"We're also working to make sure that for the walk-in clinics, if they don't offer a healthcare service, that our veteran can go to a local healthcare provider and get that service," said Hoeven.

Recently, the VA center in Fargo announced that they would hire a new master scheduler to make sure their facilities run smoother.
