Minot's Forestry Department Removes Dead Trees

Posted: Updated:
Minot's forestry department is trying to get rid of all the dead and diseased trees in the city.

And there are plenty of them because of the big flood three years ago.

The department is doing what it can on city property, but homeowners can help by taking care of what's on their land.

"The other day when we had that slight breeze of 50 miles per hour, my phone went crazy with calls from concerned neighbors that have zombie homes, or whatever you want to call them, vacated homes next to them. They were really concerned that the trees were going to fall on their property," says  Brian Johnson a Minot City Forester. "The few I visited, a lot of large branches, two to three inches in diameter actually blew off the trees and into their yards. It's time, they're starting to fall, and we don't want anyone to get hurt."

Minot residents who have questions or concerns should call the Forestry Department at 857-4178.
