Mehrer Steps Into Minot Mayoral Race

Posted: Updated:
It's no longer a one-man show when it comes to the race for Minot's next mayor. When the deadline passed earlier this year to get a name on the summer election ballot for local office, there was just one name on the list for mayor, Chuck Barney.

But that has changed, Kevin Mahrer, a Minot native is asking for support as a write-in candidate for Minot's next mayor. With a background in public relations, Mahrer finally used a push from his family to enter the political arena. He says the biggest issues facing the city are flood management and future growth.

“As everybody knows, I’m a fresh face. I’ve got a clean slate, and with that I bring fresh ideas. I bring a fresh perspective, a new perspective, something that we haven’t tried before. I think our city is yearning for a fresh perspective on things," says Mehrer.

On June 5, we'll hear from Mehrer's opponent Chuck Barney
