Farm Rescue Visits Foxholm

Posted: Updated:

Helping farm families in need, that is the mission of the non-profit group Farm Rescue. From North Dakota, to South Dakota, and even Iowa, Farm Rescue travels the great plains helping families plant, harvest and hay.

Today, Farm Rescue volunteers were in Foxholm, helping the Rademacher family finish planting their wheat crop. Just a few months ago, Farmers JoAnne and her husband Darrel, were traveling in their car when an impaired driver hit them head on. While they were recovering, their son Wade came home to work on the farm. Even with their son's help, they weren't sure they could get all of their crops in the ground, that's when they made a call to Farm Rescue.

“When we applied and they told us they would come, that was something to hang onto. We didn't know at that point where we'd be with our physical shape, so that was a big help. We had so much support, and Farm Rescue coming has really been a big boost,” says JoAnne Rodemacher.

“These are some good folks that we're helping out. They're proud people that typically wouldn't ask for help unless they really need help. And it feels so good to be able to help,” says Farm Rescue volunteer Ted Smith.

The Rademachers are the 33rd family Farm Rescue will helped with spring planting. Farm Rescue is scheduled to help more than 50 families total in 2014.
