Ag Race Heats Up

Posted: Updated:

The race for Ag Commissioner is heating up, according to a new poll.

The Mellman Group shows incumbent Republican Doug Goehring and Democratic challenger Ryan Taylor are both favored by 36 percent of respondents, with the rest undecided.

Democrats sponsored the poll.

"I think it shows that Ryan Taylor's message of moderation and balance and support what's going on in Western North Dakota but at the same time, making sure those communities are taken care of is really getting through," says NPL Director Chad Oban.

"we have to stay focused on those issues that are going to maintain the strength of one of our leading industries in North Dakota, which is agriculture, and that means not forgetting about it. Let's don't get distracted by some of the other things that are going on. We need to address those, we need to step up, and we need to work on those things," says Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring.

Both candidates say they will have busy campaign seasons this summer.
