Staff Sergeant Receives Officer Of The Year Award

Posted: Updated:

It was a surprising yet rewarding day at the Respect for Law Luncheon Wednesday over at Minot State University.

Staff Sgt. Kimura Helwig was pulled into the luncheon moments before she was honored as the Law Enforcement Officer Of The Year, and she says she will continue to strive for this type of excellence for years to come.

"I think I'm going to keep doing what I do and try and help and inspire others. Be a part of the community to feel a sense of pride and self sacrifice and giving everything you have to others. It’s always felt good. And, it’s always been rewarding to me. And, it’s always treated me well back,” says Staff Sgt. Kimura Helwig, Flight Security Controller.

Helwig has been in the Air Force for 6-years. Throughout her time she has traveled for work to Germany, Guam and Japan before she was deployed to Saudi Arabia.
