Health Department Reports Brine And Oil Spill

Posted: Updated:
A brine and oil spill has been reported near Crosby, N.D.

The North Dakota Department of Health says on May 19, Samson Resources Company notified them of the spill after a valve on a saltwater disposal well failed.

It is estimated that 100 barrels of brine and 140 barrels of oil were released. Some of the oil and brine escaped the site and reached a nearby farm field and shelter belt.
Ninety barrels of brine and 65 barrels of oil have been recovered. A state inspector has been on site and will be working with the company to develop a remediation plan.
