Air Travelers Happier With Delta And American Airlines

Posted: Updated:
As flight costs continue to rise, travelers are expecting higher quality service. And those flying in and out of Bismarck have access to some of the best customer service in the country according to a new study

Bismarck's airport may not have the biggest variety of airlines, but when flying, most people prefer quality over quantity. And by the end of the year, area travelers will have access to two of the three best rated airlines for customer satisfaction.

"I fly maybe a few times every year, and I've always had a good experience with them," says Eric Watrupa.

"You know, I can't think of a time that I had any complaint," says Patti Armstrong.

And it's not just in Bismarck. J.D. Power and Associate's 2014 North America Airline Satisfaction Study found travelers ranked Delta the second best airline for customer satisfaction.

"To have Delta in our market right now, to have that kind of legacy service that we have to get you anywhere in the world, and have this kind of a rating for them, that's wonderful," says Bismarck Airport manager Greg Haug.

Flight costs across the board are on the rise, but the study found that doesn't necessarily sway people's opinions.

What matters most to travelers is fast access to their boarding pass and getting their luggage at their destination.

"Everybody's always friendly, no problem with the service, no complaints," says Armstrong.

And soon Bismarck will have more to brag about. American Airlines came in at number three on the satisfaction study, and it's adding flights to and from the Bismarck airport in October.

"It's great for travelers in North Dakota to be able to have two of the top three rated airlines serving our market here," says Haug.

And Haug says he expects the airport to continue to grow in the coming years.

Alaska Airlines earned the top spot in the customer satisfaction survey.
