Pioneer Village Opens for the Season

Posted: Updated:
Located on the State Fair Grounds in Minot, the Ward County Historical Society's Pioneer Village has been re-opened for the spring and summer season.

Pioneer Village has displays and exhibits from the early 18 and 19 hundreds all the way up to the recent past. There you can find a full blacksmith shop, an early settler's cabin, even Ward County's first Court House. Today, the Minot Antique Car Club had automobiles on hand for the crowd to check out. This season theme at Pioneer Village will be transportation, with different car exhibits on display every month.
"I've spent a long time trying to figure out how the pioneers lived here, the way they had to live, and we've got a little bit of that replicated and then on up to modern day," says Ward County Historical Society President, Bruce Brooks. "If you've got any curiosity about your ancestors, about this country, the settlers, come on out."

"As a volunteer, the car club somewhere around December of last year 2013, is when we got involved," says Minot Antique Car Club member, Dan Caswell. "We're new and we're just astounded by the history and the quality of the stuff and the dedication of the people running it."
Pioneer Village is open Tuesday through Saturday between 1:00 and 6:00 PM.
