Officials Discuss Future of Minot Airport

Posted: Updated:

Shaping the future of Minot International Airport was the focus for Wednesday's strategic planning retreat.

Consultants met with airport staff and city officials Wednesday to discuss and look at the growth Minot International Airport has experienced in the last few years.

The goal of the retreat was to provide tools, ideas, and strategies for the airport to use and implement as they build the new terminal and plan for the next five years.

While this was only the first planning session, they hope to develop a road map for the coming months.

"There's going to be a lot more square footage. There's going to be a lot more things to take care of maintenance wise and it's going to hold a lot more passengers, so kind of just starting the conversation of readying for the new systems they're going to look at,” says Kim Kenville, Kim Kenville Consulting and Aviation.

The airport is expected to open in the fall of 2015.
