Crash Mob Encourages Seat Belt Safety

Posted: Updated:

Legacy High School and Bismarck Public School Career Academy students teamed up with the North Dakota Department of Transportation for the Click It or Ticket Crash Mob.

Students stood in red, green and yellow areas on the school's lawn to show how many people die versus those saved by wearing their seat belt. Law enforcement officers and representatives from the Department of Transportation talked to the crowd on the importance of wearing a seat belt.

"Two out of three individuals killed in motor vehicles crashes are unbelted at the time of the crash. and that's what we're trying to decrease in the future, it less unbelted crashes," says Karin Mongeon.

The Department of Transportation partnered with Subway to give out free cookie coupons to those who get pulled over for wearing their seat belt.
