Inside Business: Bridal N' More

Posted: Updated:

Jody Smith took over Bridal N' More about five years ago with the goal of expanding the 20-year-old business into a larger downtown Bismarck location with character. She found the ideal spot on 4th St. and ended up buying and renovating the building.

"We have private rooms for the bride so that they're not out in the middle of the store. Its a bigger location, so we can have a lot of people in the facility, and they're not all in the same spot," says Bridal N' More owner Smith.

And the store name, Bridal N' More, includes the word "More" for a good reason.

"We do tuxedo dress, we do prom dresses, tons of prom dresses and special occasion attire. We have people come in for military balls too," says Smith.

Smith says what sets her business apart from others is the personal service her customers receive.

"We're with them that whole way, all the way through, so a lot of those people we form friendships with. We're not just trying to sell them a dress, we're there for the long run," says Smith

Planning a big event like a wedding can take a long time, so Smith advises starting the process early.

"Ideally it starts at least a year ahead. We have people starting at least a year and a half ahead, just because of the time frames, and because you don't want to be worried about stuff coming in on time," says Smith.

Bridal N' More offers private bridal suites that can accommodate up to five guests and include private changing rooms, and it is the only locally owned bridal store that offers in-store alterations.
