Dance Studio Holds Final Recital

Posted: Updated:
The final event of the season for the Kay Michael Lee Studio was held yesterday. People got to come by and watch how much each dancer has improved while also saying goodbye to a couple seniors.

Fans came to the old armory yesterday to watch a Kay Michael Lee dance recital. People waited in line and some brought flowers to support the final event of the season.

“Just looking at the crowd,” says Serena Christianson. “The first thing that comes to my mind is I'm so thankful that their here. It's really hard as a performer to perform to an audience with no one there. It's exciting to see our community come together and support the arts, but more importantly, to support the kids.”

The dancers performed 23 dances throughout the show, and most of them performed with a group.

“I'm really excited to dance with Shelby and Cambree for the last time because they are leaving for college and just to dance with everybody I've been dancing with all year,” says Courtney White.

“I'm excited to dance with my friends for the last time and to reminisce about everything we've done throughout the year,” says Cambree Billehus.

“I will miss dancing with all my friends,” says Shelby Hanson. “And seeing all the amazing dancers, and how they've grown throughout the year.”

For these three seniors this was their final performance before they start college. It was also the final recital for the rest of the dancers until next season.

“These kids have really brought our dreams to life,” says Sarah Christianson. “We've had this dream since we were five years old. The girls have done wonderful. It's been a really fast 16 weeks. I just want to say thank you to everybody. We look forward to another year in the fall.”

Christianson says even though the season is over, they will be holding auditions on May 12 and May 13 for next season.

She also added there will be a camps in June, July and August for those who want to continue dancing in the summer.
