Don't Buy It Until We Try It: Rollie

Posted: Updated:

It doesn't matter if it's scrambled or sunny side up, for some, making eggs is no easy task. Well, there may be a way to make perfectly cooked eggs every time.

Everyone knows breakfast is the most important meal of the day. For Yovana Simic, she loves anything and everything with eggs.

"Eggs are my favorite breakfast food, and I swear I can eat them all day, every day," says Simic.

The Rollie sells for just under $15, and promises to be the fast and easy way to cook perfect eggs.

"I don't think it's going to be like a traditional scrambled egg, but then again, any way you make eggs as long as they're cooked thoroughly, they will taste great in my opinion," says Simic.

We picked up the booklet and glanced through all of the instructions and tips.

"It’s a pretty big book about to work this," says Simic.

Just plug the Rollie into the nearest outlet and allow the cooking system to heat up for at least 10 minutes. You'll notice the red light comes on immediately. Once the Rollie is ready to use, the green light will come on.

"Right now, I'm going to take the non-stick Pam spray and pour it in," says Simic.

We cracked one egg directly into the cooking chamber and waited. You'll notice there is steam coming from the top of the cooking system.

After about six to eight minutes, the egg is supposed to rise out of the cooking chamber, but nothing happened. So, we were forced to pour the egg out.

"Oh, there we go,” says Simic.

We didn't have such good luck with just one egg. I guess we're going to have to try two, and see if we have better luck.

We once again repeated the same steps, only this time the egg actually popped out of the chamber. But, were the Rollie eggs “egg-stra” special?

"It came out like an egg that's kind of like sunny side up or hard boiled," says Simic. "I wasn't expecting that, so I'm a little disappointed in that. But, the taste of the egg came out very well."

Like Simic, I love breakfast foods, so naturally I was excited to test this product. But, there is a little more to it than they advertise on TV. If you were basing it off of taste, it would definitely get a thumbs up. But, for a fast and easy way to make eggs, it would have to be a thumbs down. I think I'm going to stick to using a non-stick pan.
