North Dakota Tops Clean Air Report

Posted: Updated:
Despite all the activity in the Bakken, a recent report from the American Lung Association shows North Dakota is still one of the states with the most pristine air quality.

The report gave eight of the counties straight A's: Billings, Burke, Burleigh, Cass, Dunn, McKenzie, Mercer and Oliver. The ALA also ranked Bismarck and Fargo among the cities with the cleanest air in the United States. However, there are only eight air quality sensors in the state, but there are 53 counties in North Dakota.

"This study looks back over a 3 year period from 2010 to 2012 so it really hasn't captured a lot of the development that's happened in Western north Dakota," says Robert Moffitt of the American Lung Association.
