Dalrymple Appoints New Highway Patrol Superintendent

Posted: Updated:

Governor Jack Dalrymple announced Michael Gerhart as the new superintendent for the North Dakota Highway Patrol, beginning July 1.

Current Superintendent Colonel James Prochniak agreed with Governor Dalrymple, saying Gerhart is well suited for the job. Prochniak will retire when Gerhart takes over, and gave him advice.

"They are very supportive of public safety. And make sure that you let the administration know the successes and challenges, keep that open line of communication," says Prochniak.

Gerhart is set to manage more than 160 state troopers and a two year budget of $61 million as superintendent.
