Main Street Minute: Dickey's Barbecue Pit

Posted: Updated:

For those of you who are craving that summer time barbecue flavor, well you're in luck.

Dickey's Barbecue Pit opens their doors in Minot this week.

When you walk into Dickey's Barbecue Pit, you can't help but notice a rich BBQ smell.

"We actually use hickey wood in our pit. And, its one thing that really stands out. Its one of those things where it smells like you're at a real BBQ,” says Jason Bauman the owner of Dickey's Barbecue Pit.

Dickey's Barbecue Pit was founded back in 1941 in Dallas, Texas where they pride themselves on slow cooked meat.

"Smoked. Slow and low. It's fantastic,” says Bauman.

They do a lot of work behind the scenes to prepare for their customers. It takes about 14 hours to smoke the meat, and it's all done right inside.

"We load our pit the night before. So, basically we have to prep for what we think is going to happen the next day,” says Bauman.

When customers walk into this BBQ joint, Bauman says customers will be able to sit back, relax and enjoy some real barbecued food.

"I think the town needed something like this. It's a real BBQ restaurant, we don't just smear BBQ sauce on it; we prepare it,” says Bauman.

Dickey's is located at 1720 South Broadway and will be opening to the public on May 1. They will be open everyday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
