Some of us need a little help when it comes to selecting a piece of artwork, or redecorating a whole house. In this week's Inside Business Jim Christianson takes us inside Bridget's Room.
Some of us are artistically challenged when it comes to interior decorating and design projects, and for help we may turn to a professional, like Bridget Gerhardt, owner of Bridget's Room.
"It's a full interior design shop. We carry window treatments, decor, furniture, flooring
and we do everything custom."
Gerhardt has been customizing area homes for years with unique, one-of-a-kind products, from artwork and accessories to full interior design.
"We do a lot of abstract art. Neat furniture pieces that you don't see anywhere, and then we come up with design concepts for our clients that are tailored to the needs of their home."
Gerhardt is passionate about interior design, and she says one of the things she enjoys about her business is being able to offer unique design concepts to her clients.
"Our market is definitely looking for more contemporary, modern, a little bit of a rustic feel."
In 2010, Bridget's Room grew from being home-based to operating out of a 4,000 square foot showroom located on Rock Island Place in southeast Bismarck. And with skilled subcontractors such as ceramic tile and carpet installers standing by, they can take on more than just single room decorating projects.
"Often times we do large remodel projects because people are looking at it for the second time and they want to do it right, and more customized for the way their life is at that time."
Gerhardt says that she's a dreamer, but she never imagined her dream business would grow as well as it has. She says that her clients are just as unique and different as her design business, and that makes for a good fit.
