Runners Remember Boston Bombings

Posted: Updated:
In the wake of last year's bombing, today was an emotional day in Boston. Nearly 36,000 people hit the ground running at the Boston Marathon.      At the start of the race, runners stood shoulder to shoulder as the announcer shouted,"Take Back the Finish Line!"

Forty-three North Dakotans participated in the race. And two runners who were there last year say crossing the finish line was an emotional experience.

"There are thousands of people the last half mile of the marathon. And I think I spent more time looking at them and appreciating them in my mind this year than I ever have just because I know what happened last year in that very stretch," says Lori Klabunde.

"The crowds were cheering. And it's hard not to become emotional. You get a little lump in your throat and a little tear in your eye, because you know what happened last year. But even then, you're at the Boston Marathon and there are just a lot of emotions going through your mind," says Lynn Beiswanger.

Beiswanger says he celebrated his three minute and 32 second finish time by taking a shower and drinking a glass of chocolate milk.
