Auditor Reports No Issues Surrounding Water

Posted: Updated:

On Thursday night, Tioga city officials were alerted of chemicals, including anti-freeze, may have been used in the Tioga townhomes complex in an attempt to thaw their water pipes.

While this allegation has yet to be confirmed, the city has taken precautions and shut off the water line at the complex. Officials also recommended residents of the homes get tested for chemical poisoning.

"Currently, we have no reported issues. Just as the state department encouraged, several residents should go get checked for their own safety. A few of them decided to do that, not all of the tenants decided to do that. As far as we know there are no incidents of poisoning," says the city auditor Julie Ramos-Lagos.

The residents have been relocated to a local hotel until all water tested is completed. Testing is supposed to be done by tomorrow, and results will be in within the next few days.
