Don't Buy It Until We Try It: Bulls Eye Pee Pads

Posted: Updated:

Potty training your dog can be challenging, especially when it's cold outside. And, pee pads can leak everywhere, creating one big mess. Well, there may be an easier way to make going to the bathroom a little more attractive for your furry friend.

It's playtime at the Dibble house, and for Frasier and Bernie that means they're running around, playing catch with their owner Amanda.  But, at some point, they'll be forced to take a brief break from their fun and games to take a potty break.

"When it's really cold, especially when it gets down to 40 below, they tend to not want to go out, so we do use potty pads in the garage and they've worked really well," says Amanda Dibble.

But, even with potty pads, there still can be messes to clean up.

"Sometimes when the dogs are, you know, going around the potty pad, and sometimes, they miss it a little bit," says Dibble.

So, we're going to find out if the Bulls Eye Pee Pads can help us solve this problem.

"I don't know, it's getting warm out, so they definitely like going potty outside.  So, we'll see," says Dibble.

The Bulls Eye Pee Pads sell for under $20 and promises to attract your dog to the target with its unique scent.

We put the pad in the laundry room and waited.

"Want to go potty?" says Dibble.

But, apparently, Frasier and Bernie had a mind of their own and wanted nothing to do with the pee pad.

So, we were forced to move the pee pad to its normal location: The garage.

Initially, Frasier is excited to check out his new pad, but quickly loses interest as Bernie enters the garage.

You'll notice they walk back and forth several times across the pee pads to check them out.  And, they even stand on them for a few minutes.

But, after several failed attempts, we decided to free them and let them run outside.

Within minutes, they were going to the bathroom outside.

So, was the Bulls Eye Pee Pads right on target?

Dibble says, "I think they were a little camera shy, lots going on, a lot of new people in the house, so they didn't quite work today."

While both Bernie and Frasier seemed more interested in checking out my camera gear, you could tell they were intrigued with the Bulls Eye pads. I don't know if it was really the scent, or if it was just the target in the middle of the pad that caught their eye, but if the camera was not rolling. I have full confidence they would have been right on target.

So, this week's, "Don't Buy It, Until We Try It" earns a thumbs up.
