North Dakota Tops Poll In Education

Posted: Updated:

Nearly nine out of 10 North Dakotans rated the state's Public School Education as excellent or good in a recent survey. That's the highest rating in the country.

According to a new Gallup Poll, North Dakota citizens gave Public Education in the state an 87 percent rating, closely edging out Iowa and Minnesota. The results are based on a special nation-wide poll in which 600 people were interviewed in every state.

In Minot, 18 schools are part of the Minot Public School System.

"We can be pleased about this, because I think people know the staff at their schools, and that they have student's best interests at heart.  And I hope it's a pat on the back for teachers because it's a hard job, so anything is good to encourage people to stick with it, and say this is the result of our hard work," says Assistant Superintendent Kim Slotsve.

North Dakota has topped several other Gallup Polls in recent months including well-being, trust in state government and job creation.
