Public Transportation Looks To Better Serve Passengers

Posted: Updated:

Minot City Transit along with Souris Basin Transportation held a public meeting Thursday afternoon to better serve disabled and paratransit passengers.

In compliance with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act, the city held its annual meeting to discuss the public transportation system with riders.

With more people using the paratransit service, the city wants to make sure priority goes to those people who absolutely need it.

"We don't get to talk to these people every day. We have the passengers that are out riding the buses, the drivers get to speak with them and interact with them, but from a management stand point, we don't get a chance to visit with these folks on a daily basis, unless they call in with any issues they want to talk to us about personally. So, having this forum once a year is a nice opportunity for us to get one-on-one with them. We get to find out what their concerns are, find out what they're happy with, find out what they would like to see different, and be able to take that back and try to put that into play," says Brian Horinka of the City of Minot Bus Services.

There are no immediate changes expected with the current paratransit service.
