River Level Concerns Fisherman

Posted: Updated:

In Bismarck the Missouri River isn't at flood stage but the high level have fisherman concerned.

The heavy water coming from the tributaries is bringing a lot of sediment, which makes it difficult to fish in.

And professional angler Mike Peluso says if the Army Corps of Engineers releases water to help flush the snow from the mountains soon, it will push the fish down south farther up the river making it prime time for fisherman. But the murky waters could hinder the spring fishing season.

"Certainly, we kind of have a short window here for the Missouri River in Bismarck where the fish migrate up and the spring bite is kind of short lived, so when you have things of this nature taking place it puts a damper on things," says Mike Peluso of Bis-Man Bait-N-More.

Peluso says the water usually clears up within a week, and if it does he's expecting a good fishing season.
