Globetrotters Spread Anti-Bullying Message

Posted: Updated:

Anti-bullying awareness campaigns have been on the rise in schools across America in recent years. The world famous Harlem Globetrotters are spreading the message. Globetrotter Shane (Scooter) Christensen visited Bismarck's Sunrise Elementary to teach them ABC's of Bullying Prevention.

Christensen dribbled into their brains that bullying isn't ok. I think he even scored points when he taught them some fancy tricks.

"It was really fun because we get to actually play. We get to do these tricks," says third-grader Emma Horner.

"I did not know that you could be a bully by laughing and pointing and video caming," says third-grader Brinley Smith.

"It's still bullying, and it really hurts people's feelings. It tempts the person that's bullying someone to push harder," says third-grader Brayden Monington.

"You see it all the time on TV, a lot of kids, you know, are getting hurt or hurting themselves, because of bullies. And we have a great message, you know, if they can listen to us, you know, that's what we want," says Christensen.

"I think that's fun, you know, you want to get your message across first. But then also have fun at the end, which is what the Globetrotters are all about," says Christensen.

The certificates double as coupons to go see the Harlem Globetrotter Game at the Civic Center on April 15.
