I confirmed to myself, my family and my peers at a young age that I was going to be a news broadcaster. Just check the home videos I own of me swinging on the playground in my Brookfield, CT backyard at 8 years old pretending to do a live newscast. Then at 14 years old, I decided to build my own green screen studio in my basement with lights and everything. I would play around with the production and editing.
My interests range from science to competitive cheerleading, which I did for a decade. But it doesn't stop there, I love sharks, the movie "The Shawshank Redemption", and made Lady Gaga a YouTube video when I was 16 and got to meet her because of it! I really value family and friends, especially my mom & dad, and two younger siblings, Jillian and Drew. At Immaculate High School in Danbury, CT, I was always on stage performing in musical productions, going to my internship at the local access station, and was a pretty intense lacrosse athlete that led me be recruited to the next step in my journey: college.
I graduated a semester early from Emerson College in December 2013 with a B.S. degree in Broadcast Journalism and minors in Political Science and Women and Gender Studies. During my time in college, I was the host of an Emmy and Telly Award winning morning news show, and won The EVVY Award for Outstanding Television Personality for my work on the show. I spent my summers in New York City interning for MSNBC's "News Nation", MSNBC's "NOW with Alex Wagner" and MTV's "Logo" and was also a reporter for mtvU.
Bismarck has welcomed me ever so graciously into its family, and I couldn't be happier to be in such a kind and warm place (the people--not the weather... haha). If you ever see me out and about please say hi! I'd love to meet you! Also please feel free introduce yourself or send me any stories you have by emailing me at firstname.lastname@example.org or tweet me @MeganMitchellTV
