Roaring Twenties Social and Dance

Posted: Updated:

Today in Bismarck, visitors to the Former Governor's Mansion took a step, or a few, back in time.

Sequins, feathers and tapping toes filled the room for the Roaring Twenties Social and Dance. The free event encouraged visitors to dress in period clothing and had a dance instructor to teach the Charleston and other 1920s moves. Organizers say other than having a good time, visitors can learn something from the era as well.

"It is something that they really enjoy," says dance instructor Sarah Walker. "People are really into it right now, and I'm not sure if its because the Great Gatsby came out recently, or if its because there's something about the '20s that speaks to people. I think that every decade has something to share with the future and of course all of history."
