Volleyball Team Fundraises With Traveling Toilet

Posted: Updated:

In aneffort to raise money for team camps this summer, the Williston High Schoolvolleyball team is putting on a series of fundraising events. For this firstone, do not be surprised if you find a hot pink toilet sitting on your frontlawn. You may have been struck by the traveling toilet.

The toilet is placed on a lawn inthe community. You can donate $15 to have it removed, $20 to pick who gets stuck with it next, and $50 to never get the toiletback again. A ransom note is left to explain the rules.

"I did this fundraiser when Iwas in high school, and it raised a lot of money. We are looking to go, as avolleyball program, to summer camps, so we thought this fundraiser would be agreat opportunity," says high school volleyball coach Ashley Oyle.

The volleyball players enjoy thecreativity behind the traveling toilet fundraiser.

"I think it's awesome. We getto go out and drop it off at places. They're kind of surprised. Everybody hasbeen really good though. We've got a lot of fundraising done and it has justbeen a fun time," says junior Hannah Kitzan.

Members of the community have oftenexpressed extreme generosity and donated more than asked for.

"Most people participate in it,and have us move it right away. A lot of people donate more than they'resupposed to, as well," says sophomore Calley Mann.

Oyle is proud of the effort thegirls have put into this fundraiser and their obvious desire to improve asvolleyball players.

"The response has been awesome. The girls are working really hard to pay for these summer camps. It's reallyawesome to see them want to succeed at volleyball and do better at it. So, it'sreally awesome to see the community supporting their goals and what they wantto do," says Oyle.

The team has high expectationsregarding the results of the traveling toilet.

"I think we are getting upthere. I think we will make more than we are planning," says Mann.

Be warned, you never know when thetraveling toilet will end up on your lawn.

Thefundraiser continues for a month, the volleyball team is extremely grateful forthe support they have received.
