Teacher of The Month: Debbie Hendrickson

Debbie Hendrickson the seventh-and-eighth-grade special education teacher at Williston Middle School, possess an extra amount of patience and kindness makes her this Teacher of the Month.

As a special education teacher, Hendrickson doesn't just teach one subject, she covers them all.

"We work a lot on life skills, math and reading, the kinds of things that they're going to need in everyday life. We make purchases, we do some cooking, tell time and we work on our reading skills," says Hendrickson.

Her colleagues also recognize what an extraordinary person she is.

"She's just a great lady, a great teacher, she really cares about the kids. The kids love her, she loves them. She does anything she can to help them get through the day and help them learn whatever it is they're working on. Her heart is in the right place, and she just does an awesome job here," says the school's principal Duane Noeske.

Hendrickson says her favorite part about the job is the children, many of which she has stayed in contact with over the years.

"The kids are very genuine and very kind and loving. It's pretty easy to love them back, and to be very patient with them," says Hendrickson.

"It does take a special person, and she is a special lady," says Noeske.

Hendrickson has been a teacher in Williston for 29-years.
