Fairfield Seeks Secretary of State Seat

Posted: Updated:

A former democratic state lawmaker says she plans to run for Secretary of State.

April Fairfield spent 10-years in the legislature between 1996 and 2006. She says mismanagement by Secretary of State Al Jaeger prompted her to run as well as concerns with the new voter ID law.

"Voting in North Dakota should be easy, but it should also be accessible and every single vote should count. I'm running because no one should ever be turned away from the Secretary of State's office because the doors are closed for business. Especially when the ability to perform simple tasks aren't online," says Fairfield.

If elected, she says her first priority will be to open the office full time and help get those services online for the public.
