State Tops Nation In Income Growth

Posted: Updated:

Over the past seven years North Dakota has topped the nation six times in income growth. Last year, the state's average personal income increased more than 7.5 percent, while the rest of the country grew by about 2.5 percent according to the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple says the success can be seen across the state.

"It comes from many industries, not just oil and gas. It comes from agriculture, it comes from tourism, it comes from manufacturing. These are industries that are not that much to do with oil and gas and yet they're doing very well also," says Dalrymple.

The statistics also show that the state's annual income increased to $57,000 last year more than double what it was in 2000.
