Bismarck Figure Skating Club Back on Familiar Ice

Posted: Updated:

After months of practice, and shows away from home, the Bismarck Figure Skating Club is back on familiar ice.

More than 120 skaters performed for friends and family this past weekend and wrapped up their shows today at 2 PM. Skaters ages four through 18 showed off what they have learned this past season.

This years show was themed after the Olympics. It was named "The Case of the Missing Medal" where the skaters go on a hunt across the country to find a stolen Olympic medal. And skaters and coaches alike say the show is their favorite time of year.

"It's really exciting when it is show time because we do all the work through the year," says skater, Annie Nelson. "Work on jumps and spins and elements we get to this time people come and watch it's really exciting all the time we spent at the rink people actually get to see it because we travel a lot during the year so a lot of people like our friends and family don't get to see it that much so I really look forward to ice show"

"One of my favorite things is seeing the young and the old skaters together because during the year they're always separated," says coach, Becky Gallion. "And so, to see them all here to see the little kids watch the big girls skate in their sparkly dresses and to look up to them, and to see the older girls just so great with them it's the best time of year."
