Don't Buy It Until We Try It: Scratch-Dini

Posted: Updated:

From parking lots to garages, keeping your vehicle scratch-free is almost impossible.  Well, there may be an easy way to wipe off all those scratches in just seconds without hiring out.  In this week's "Don't Buy It, Until We Try It," I tried out the Scratch-Dini.

For auto body students like Sean Doerr, removing scratches and scuffs from cars can take a lot of time and patience.

"We sand off all the paint, and then we see if all the scratches actually in the metal," says Doerr.

The Scratch-Dini sells for around $10 and promises to be a quick and easy solution to get rid of all those scratches.  We applied a small amount of the Scratch-Dini maximum strength scratch remover on the car and let it sit for 30 seconds.

Doerr says, "Now, we're going to wipe of the excess amount."

To completely wipe and buff the area, we used a damp paper towel.

"That is all the steps and it seems like the scratches are still there," says Doerr.

We just finished trying the solution on the red paint, now we're going to try it out on the white paint to see if we have any better luck.

We once again repeated the same steps, but there wasn't much difference.

Doerr says, "It works a little bit, but if you looking at the right angel, you can still see the scratch in there."

In the past, I've tried a handful of these kinds of products, but this one was by far the worst of them all.  Not only did the solution not work, but they didn't give you a cloth or a sponge to use.

So, this week's "Don't Buy It, Until We Try It, earns a thumbs down.
