Dalrymple Declares April Child Abuse Prevention Month

Posted: Updated:

There were more than 11,000 cases of suspected child abuse in the state last year, and 1,500 of those cases were confirmed.

Governor Dalrymple has proclaimed April child abuse prevention month. Several organizations work year round to prevent abuse, and today, some of them were honored for their work.

"One of the really impressive pieces about all this prevent child abuse work is that it's always based on building strengths and being supportive. Communication, community, asset building and self confidence are crucial," says Ellen Chaffe of Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota.

This year's award winners are Charles Hall Family Services, Cass County Social Services, Fargo Cass Nurse-Family Partnership, Sources of Strength and Specialized Child/Family Services Unit of West Central Human Service Center.
