Stenehjem Serves Seven Contractors Cease and Desist Orders

Posted: Updated:

Seven unlicensed contractors violated state consumer fraud laws, and the Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem took action with Cease and Desist Orders.

The following contractors will no longer be allowed to conduct business in North Dakota:

Michael Knudson, MLK Construction,

Ed McDonald, Asphalt Seal Coating and E. McDonald Seal Coatin

Thomas Zimmerle, From Old To New Construction, LLP.

Jaymason Bottin, J2 Roofing & General Contracting

Ryan Dalbec, Dalbec Property Management Inc.

Thomas Dohleman, Tom's Painting

Kenny & Jessica Huffstutler, BCS Fence & Services, LLC.

The Consumer Protection Division investigated the businesses after receiving complaints from customers regarding the contractors' failure to start or complete projects that they had made advance payments on. None of the seven contractors had the required licenses, and none cooperated with investigators from the Consumer Protection Division.

The Huffstutlers were initially cooperative, but have not returned investigators' calls.

Three of the unlicensed contractors, Dalbec, Bottin and McDonald, have fled the area, and their whereabouts are unknown.

Dohleman faces pending criminal charges in Cass County. Zimmerle also faces charges in Morton County because he continued to solicit work after his business was involuntarily shut down.
