Red Cross Offers Aid to Montana Flood Victims

Posted: Updated:

Members of the Minot chapter of the American Red Cross recently returned from a trip to the eastern edge of Montana to offer aid, as areas of that state are under water.

Complications from the late-winter thaw has caused flooding in Montana and displacing some people from their homes.

Early Saturday morning, a team from Minot's Red Cross traveled to Fairview, Montana, to give aid to five families.

"The Red Cross, both Montana and also North Dakota chapters, we provided assistance with feeding the families," says Kira Nauman the disaster program specialist for the Mid-Dakota chapter of the Red Cross. "And then Saturday, I went down with a casework team, and we provided additional assistance with shelter for three nights, food assistance, clothing, blankets and comfort kits."

While this instance of flooding occurred in Montana, Nauman recommends downloading the Red Cross Flood App as a way of keeping track of up-to-date flood information.
