Barber Shop Gets New Space

Posted: Updated:

There is a new barber shop in Williston that opened a week ago. The owner has been cutting hair in town for five-years and now, he can continue that trend in a brand new facility.

The owner of Jason's Barber Shop is Jason Johnson. He has been cutting hair for 18-years, but five-years-ago, he bought a shop from a retiring barber.

"I had that other shop in the Home Economy building. It was there for 31-years and then when I lost that spot, a couple people really wanted to get me in here," says Johnson.

Johnson's love of cutting hair runs in the family. His uncle cut hair for 40-years in Williston, but is now retired. His mother also cuts hair.

"We waited all summer, but we finally got here," Johnson says. "This place is a beautiful place. The DMV being next door. There's lots of people. Jimmy Johns is coming soon too. It's just a dream come true to have a shop down here by the college."

While Johnson waited for his shop to be built in the current location he worked at a local salon and in Plentywood part time.

"I just started working with Jason, and I've owned my on business all this time except just recently. I decided to try something new so I've been with Jason since last week," says master barber at Jason's Barber Shop Marci Steedley.

She has been a barber for 14-years and actually owns a barbershop in Newcastle, Wyo. She says her she like how spacious the new shop is.

"Everybody's welcome," she says, "From children to adults and seniors. We got senior discounts, which is good too. We offer children discounts and college discounts too."

Johnson's prices will start off at $17 for adults and $16 for seniors, kids and college students.
