Secretary of State Launches Voter ID Campaign

Posted: Updated:

We're 85 days away from the June elections, so to make voting easier, the Secretary of State's Office along with the Association of Counties is launching a $700,000 educational voter ID campaign.

Secretary of State, Al Jaeger, says voting in North Dakota is "Easy as Pie." North Dakota is the only state where you don't need to register to vote, but you do need a valid ID.

The required forms are: A North Dakota Drivers License, a Non-Driver's ID, a Tribal Issued ID, a Student ID Certificate, or a Long-Term Care ID Certificate. Jaeger stresses, we are lucky enough to have the right to vote, so this educational campaign is important.

He says, voters should start thinking about making sure their current forms of ID have the correct name, residential address and birth date.

"When we go to vote, I think it's important that I know I am a qualified voter. I have the confidence in the assurances that every other voter that's going to the polls casting their ballot, is also a qualified voter," says Jaeger.

For more information on the ID requirements or the campaign in general visit vote.nd.gov.
