Brothers Raise Money for Socks for Soldiers

Posted: Updated:

Thousand of United State's military members are stationed around the world.  Whether it's a short deployment, or years spent overseas, there are ways that civilians back home can show their support for those protecting our country.

In its fourth year, brothers Austin and Quinn Greenheck, students at Central Campus in Minot, decided to get involved with the Fox River Socks for Soldiers program.  It's an effort to raise money to buy socks for U.S. Military members stationed around the world.  The Greenheck brothers hope to raise $7 thousand by the end of March, which will provide 500 pairs of socks for soldiers overseas.

The brothers say it's the little things that matter most.  "We have the most well equipped military in the world, but it's the little things like socks that get them.  Just keeping their feet warm, and keep them in good spirits when they're out on walks, it's actually a big thing," said Austin.  His brother Quinn added, "We have the Air Force Base right here, I think that helps with people's understanding of what others go through.  Getting moved so often, things like that.  When they send people overseas, they can feel left out.  We have all these programs to keep kids back home comfortable, why don't we do something like that over there."

To Donate to the cause, you can mail checks to Austin or Quinn Greenheck at 2409 11th Avenue NW, Minot, ND, 58703 by March 31st.  Make those checks payable to Fox River Socks for Soldiers.
