Don't Buy It Until We Try It: Veggetti

Posted: Updated:

From zucchini, squash to carrots and potatoes, cutting vegetables can take a lot of time and elbow grease.  Well, there may be a safer and more efficient way to effortlessly slice your favorite veggies.

Every day, Glenburn Cafe owner Michael Clouse spends hours in the kitchen prepping fresh foods for his customers.

"It does take a lot of time to make the presentation of the food very acceptable," says Michael Clouse of Glenburn Cafe.

It usually takes about an hour for Clouse to cut up a fourth of a case of potatoes. But, there are some challenges.

"See my thickness is different too. So, that's not really being consistent either. Then, I'm starting an angel a little bit, so it's not really so now my knife is starting to get dull," says Clouse.

The Veggetti sells for around $15 and claims to have 12 ultra-sharp stainless blades that will hopefully help us create strips of potatoes for hash browns.

We washed the potatoes and attempted to load it in the Veggetti, but it proved to be quite a challenge. You can only use food that is two and a half inches or smaller in diameter.

"I just found one that was more round," says Clouse.

With a smaller potato, we were able to slice through it more easily.

"This right here is making absolute noodles perfect," says Clouse.

Plus, with the Veggetti, there's less waste than slicing or cutting.

"That's the noodles I got, plus I'm not done grinding yet, and I got probably more product out of this than I did out of my one potato," says Clouse.

Once we were done, we threw the potatoes in the deep fryer for a few minutes.

There is a big difference in appearance between the Veggetti fries and regular fries.

"See now, that I had a little bit of practice with it, I mean I have no problems once over.  We can be really creative on what you're doing it's endless on what we can do with it," says Clouse.

Amy gives the Veggetti a thumbs up.
