Saturday's game was his last as a varsity head coach. Len Stanley has resigned as the head girls coach in Mandan because he plans to retire.
Stanley took over the Braves program in 2011 but he is well know in the coaching circles in North Dakota.
"It seems like just yesterday when I started and that was way back in 1973 and the time has flown. I think part of that is I have had phenomenal athletes over the years, and I've had really good parents to work with so I think that's made time fly," says Len Stanley, Mandan Braves.
Len won Class-B title's at Washburn and he took college teams to nationals with the Tetons and Mystics. He also coached baseball at many levels as well.
"What's going to be nice in this retirement is that I've been hostage to a schedule 12 months out of the year. It went from basketball to baseball to summer baseball to basketball and so not to be hostage to a schedule and be able to have some free time is going to be a unique experience," says Stanley.
Stanley's final coaching duties will be with the Mandan JV baseball team this spring.
