What Will You Give Up For Lent?

Catholics in Bismarck gathered at churches to celebrate the start of the Lenten Season. Today is Ash Wednesday, and students at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit School participated in the mass.

Bishop Kagan spoke to students and parents at the mass about the importance of celebrating the season of lent. Through prayer and fasting, Catholics can prepare for the celebration of Easter Sunday.

Students have already planned what they will be giving up this season, "I'm going to give up chocolate milk and pop. It's going to be hard because chocolate milk is so good," says Dominic Barone. While Adam Richter says, he will be giving up popsicles, ice cream and candy.

Other students are choosing to focus on adding activities to their day, like Katherine Schneider. "We talked a little bit about what you should try and do for Lent like pray more.


Lent lasts for the next 40 days, and Mary Cate Mannion will have more from a priest on how Catholics will reflect during this season.
