City Forester Begins Elm Firewood Inspections

Posted: Updated:

On March 10, city arborists from the Bismarck Forestry Division will begin combining and sorting firewood to fight a disease that kills trees every year.

Firewood piles that contain elm wood are breeding grounds to the Elm Bark Beetle which carry Dutch Elm Disease.

If the division finds infected wood they will ask the owners to debark, burn or dispose of it within 10 days if notification.
