Principal Arrested in Trinity High School Fire Case

Posted: Updated:

The principal of Trinity High School in Dickinson has been arrested and charged with felony arson and endangerment by fire following yesterday's early morning fire at Dickinson Trinity High School.

Dickinson police arrested Thomas Sander, 30, after questioning him today.   Sander is being held at the South West Multi County Correctional Center.

The fire caused classes to be canceled this week and forced the region 7 basketball tournament to be moved to Dickinson High School.

Chairman of the board for Dickinson Catholic schools, Monsignor Patrick Schumacher, says the school building will remain closed for the rest of the year.

However, Trinity students will resume their classes Monday in Dickinson public school buildings. Trinity faculty and staff will meet tomorrow morning to discuss the logistics.

Monsignor Schumacher says he is very grateful for the professionalism and cooperation offered by the public school system.

Bismarck Bishop David Kagan will issue a statement from the Catholic Diocese tomorrow.
