Commission Supports Pipeline Project

Posted: Updated:

The Industrial Commission is showing it's support for what will be the largest crude oil pipeline project in North Dakota.

The commission has sent a letter to the Federal Agency involved in the project's permitting to support the pipeline.

Enbridge's Sandpiper project would carry Bakken crude oil from Western North Dakota to Clearbrook Minnesota and Superior Wisconsin. The various markets make the pipeline project appealing to companies.

"When someone signs up for a project like Sandpiper, they definitely taking a look at the market conditions and where they can move their crude oil and the pricing at that endpoint. It's very encouraging that obviously the industry saw this as a good solution," says Jason Kringstad of the North Dakota Pipeline Authority.

The Public Service Commission along with federal agencies will oversee the project, as the company finalizes a route and gains access to the land needed for the pipeline.
