National Myeloma Month

Posted: Updated:

Living with an incurable disease is difficult. The International Myeloma Foundation says the condition affects more than 100,000 Americans.

Multiple Myeloma is an incurable cancer of cells in the bone marrow that affect blood cell production.

And doctors say even though the condition is incurable, there are treatments to make the disease more bearable.

"We have really effective drugs, where we can reduce the Myeloma protein levels to almost close to zero," says Sanford Oncologist, Vijay Chaudhary.

There is a support group for people suffering from Myeloma in Bismarck. Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the public library.
