Attorney General Serves Telemarketer With Cease and Desist Order

Posted: Updated:

A telemarketer from Massachusetts is banned from conducting business in North Dakota. John Galli ignored the state's Do Not Call laws and refused to comply with the Civil Investigative Demand.

Investigators of the Consumer Protection Division received a complaint about Galli soliciting magazine subscription renewals by phone and then charging credit cards.

When the division contacted him, he refused to cooperate with investigators. He has been served with a cease and desist order. If he violates this, he will face a $1,000 fine among other penalties provided for violations of the consumer protection laws.

The director of the division advises anyone interested in renewing a magazine subscription to deal directly with the publishers.

Consumers who have not already filed a complaint about these solicitations can submit a complaint form at www.ag.nd.gov.
