Senior Center Holds Water Meeting

Posted: Updated:

Work ona $3.2 million water project in Berthold and Carpio is one step closer tobeginning its second phase.

Latelast year, North Central Rural Water Consortium completed phase one of theproject, which provides a water system to about 220 new customers in bothtowns.

But,with such an overwhelming response from the community, North Central ran out offunding before they could sign people up for the program.

That'swhen they asked the state Water Commission for more money to move forward with itsproject.

Withfunding now secured, North Central is holding a public meeting Wednesday nightat the Carpio Senior Citizens Center to get people in the area signed up forthe program.

"Wedon't want to miss anybody because these projects don't come along very often," says general manager Teresa Sundsbak of North Central Rural Water Consortium. "We want to make sure that everybody get [signed up] who's interested inhaving rural water."

Themeeting starts at 7 p.m. Bids for the project will open by the end ofApril. And, Sundsbak says weather permitting; work on the project willstart as soon as possible. For more information visit www.northprairie.com.
