Minot Buying Out Homes

Posted: Updated:

Some homes and properties in the flood control footprint are being bought out by the city of Minot.

The finance and improvements committee met today to discuss the homes and properties that need to be purchased. As funding becomes available, those homes and properties would be acquired.

City of Minot Finance Director Cindy Hemphill says the key is to remember the city does not have enough money in place, and it could be several years before all of the properties are purchased.

This will give some flexibility of adding homes to the overall list when money does become available. The city council will decide on the issue at the next meeting on Monday evening.
